ADHARA MUDRA
(For Opening to Receive Abundantly)
Adhara Mudra is the gesture of support for receiving
abundantly. Use this mudra to connect with the Divine source, and submit your
intentions. Practicing Adhara Mudra helps energy to redirects into the solar
channel (Pingala Nadi) of the body. By the expression of will, personal power,
and mental abilities, the energy of the ‘Manipura Chakra’ (Solar Plexus) is
mobilised. ‘Adhara’ refers to foundation which is the wellspring of all
abundance on this Earth. This mudra helps to direct energy and breath to the
solar center of the body to cultivate deeper connection with one’s energy and
potency. We often don't receive or even understand what we need on a deep
spiritual or emotional level. Supporting the discovery of our true needs, the
mudra helps us to release any limiting beliefs that we are unworthy of
receiving what we need.
Method of doing Adhara Mudra:
Sit in Padmasana, Ardh Padmasana or Sukhasana. Keep your
back straight. Use woollen carpet (or wood, Durva grass, wooden or a floor made
up of cow dung) to prevent the radiations coming out of the floor. Hands are
held in front of the navel. Bring the palms together in prayer position in
front of the abdomen, fingertips facing away from the torso. Keeping the
fingertips and the wrists together, spread the thumbs out to the side like
wings, creating space between the palms. Relax the shoulders and let the
forearms rest against the abdomen. As you hold Adhara mudra, take several
natural breaths to attune to the feelings and sensations evoked by the gesture.
Notice how the breath is directed to the solar plexus, creating a space of
receptivity. Take several breaths to attune to the space within your hands as a
symbol of your openness to receive all of life's bounty and affirm that you are
ready to release any beliefs of unworthiness or inadequacy that could keep you
from receiving. Take time to reflect on that which you are asking to receive,
noticing both your surface-level need as well as your deeper intention. Now,
make your request to the Divine source, from the deepest part of your being,
repeating your request three times silently. Visualize that which you have
requested within your hands as a manifest reality, envisioning all the ways
that it will support your life journey. Surrender your request to the Divine
source, and repeat the affirmation three times.”I open to receive abundantly by
aligning my needs with the one source energy." Release the gesture, taking
several breaths to sense your complete receptivity. Open your eyes, returning
slowly and gently.
